The legacy of custom internal software

In the next decade every company will become a software company, and as a result, software will permeate every business process. In order to keep up with demand, the antiquated process to develop custom internal software must go through a revolution. Analysts estimate that up to half of all code is written for internal applications resulting in annual spend north of $100B per year. It’s a mind-blowing statistic and digital transformation is still in its early innings.

Custom internal software affects our lives every day. Whether it’s the tools Bank of America uses to approve credit card applications, the content flagging system TikTok relies on to keep users safe, or the supply chain software Amazon uses to deliver packages — custom internal software powers every major business on the planet. It’s expensive to build, arduous to maintain, difficult to secure and is limited by a company's most valuable resource – the developer.

Enter Superblocks

Superblocks is a programmable set of building blocks for developers to create mission-critical custom internal apps, workflows and scheduled jobs, at a fraction of the time and cost.

Superblocks has quickly become the internal tooling backbone at 100s of companies including multibillion dollar startups like Motive, Payhawk, Clearco, Papaya Global and Alchemy, empowering their Customer Support & Operations teams with bespoke software that fits their workflow perfectly.

The combination of a shortage of developers and recent market volatility is forcing teams to achieve more with less. This has heightened the focus on developer efficiency, driving even greater demand for Superblocks, where we’ve seen customers build thousands of apps, workflows and jobs.

Integrate with anything to break down data silos

Superblocks lets developers connect any database or REST, GraphQL and gRPC API handling authentication — that means your production database, SaaS vendors, internal APIs and even Google Sheets, breaking down data silos when building apps, workflows and scheduled jobs.

Create beautiful internal apps, without frontend expertise

Superblocks enables developers to create custom internal apps quickly, without the need for React, HTML or CSS skills. Our drag-and-drop component library of popular tables, charts, forms and modals as well as advanced components like mapping and code diffs.

Workflow Automation, built for developers

Superblocks Workflows allow developers to spin up APIs in seconds. Just query your data, write Python or JavaScript business logic and click deploy. Workflows can connect to your existing admin interfaces and third party SaaS applications and are triggered by code.

Scheduled Jobs, without the overhead

Superblocks Scheduled Jobs allow developers to execute business logic across data sources and APIs on a recurring interval. Whether it’s sending daily reports to Slack or building data pipelines, Superblocks lets developers skip the infrastructure and focus on their unique business logic.

Built for developers, with security at the core

The Superblocks platform ties it all together with enterprise-grade security via granular permissions, audit logs, SSO and secure secrets management. Superblocks can be consumed as a fully managed cloud service, or using our unique hybrid model with the open source self-hosted agent, which keeps data secure inside the customer’s VPC.

With Superblocks, developers can deploy with version control, and soon use their own CI/CD pipeline. Add production observability in a few clicks via Datadog, Elastic, Grafana and more.

A powerful platform, with industry specific use cases

We’ve seen adoption from a variety of industries. For example Motive, a 4,000 person fleet management software company, built all tooling to support their Corporate Card connecting to multiple fintech APIs, Snowflake and their database.

Though Fintech use cases extend to tooling for KYC, fraud and risk, we’ve seen similar use cases for claims management for insurance, buyer and seller management for marketplaces and order management for Ecommerce brands.

The journey ahead

Superblocks is on a mission to free up developer time by bringing together every building block a developer needs to build internal software into a single programmable platform.

Our $37 million funding enables us to invest deeply into our existing products, launch new ones, and continue delivering on our world-class engineering support promise to customers.
