Partnership Announcement: Superblocks x Pretium

About Pretium Partners
Pretium Partners is a New York-based investment firm specializing in real estate, residential credit, and corporate credit markets. Since its founding in 2012, the firm has managed investments across a range of strategies, including single-family rental homes, mortgage finance, and structured credit.
With a focus on long-term growth opportunities, Pretium leverages data-driven insights and scalable platforms to capitalize on demographic, technological, and economic trends shaping these markets.
Pretium and Superblocks
Pretium began exploring low-code tools to tackle two major challenges with their DIY development approach:
- The high cost of DIY development constrained their ability to build internal CRUD applications that could greatly improve the accuracy and traceability of their data entry processes. As a result, their employees spend hours checking for errors and reconciling mismatched entries.
- Pretium’s engineering team occasionally develops high-priority software projects for long-term use by their subsidiary companies. However, transferring ownership of these projects was often problematic due to the differing skill sets between the parent company’s engineers and the subsidiary teams responsible for ongoing maintenance and updates. This highlighted the need for a more accessible and standardized platform.
Pretium evaluated several low-code platforms but ultimately chose Superblocks for its standout features:
- It met their key requirements, including built-in audit logs, embedding capabilities, compatibility with SSO vendors like Okta, and seamless integration with their core tech stack (Bitbucket, Snowflake, Python, and Plotly).
- Superblocks’ Control Blocks feature stood out for being noticeably easier for new users to pick up and build with compared to other API and workflow solutions.
- Superblocks’ commitment to delivering best-in-class support for their engineering teams was a significant differentiator.

Looking forward
Pretium has ambitious goals with Superblocks, and in the short term, they aim to:
- Accelerate development of critical tooling to support an upcoming fund launch.
- Reduce engineering time required to build and maintain the internal tooling that serves as the backbone of their data collection operations.
- Eliminate key person risk by centralizing development on a platform that is easily accessible and understandable across both primary and subsidiary companies.
- Streamline financial data entry processes by replacing inefficient Excel and email-based workflows with a new, purpose-built application.
- Reduce reliance on third-party services by democratizing access to essential data through internal tools built with Superblocks.

“Superblocks provides us with a set of platform capabilities - governed integrations with our data sources, native audit logging and observability, SSO with Okta, and low-code building blocks - that we can use to build many standardized apps across Pretium and our operating companies. We can now build faster and more confidently on a standard technology, rather than proliferate sprawl and solve the same problems over and over again.”

"I tested many tools, and Superblocks was the clear winner for its superior developer experience. I onboarded in a couple of hours and built an app for our affordable housing fund in under a week. We needed a platform flexible enough to handle our complex business requirements and user-friendly enough to hand off apps to semi-technical teams within our operating companies, and Superblocks was the only one that met the mark."
