The opportunity

Flex gave every employee AI tools, then had no way to ship what they built.

In February 2026, Flex leadership went all in on AI and handed every employee access to the frontier coding agents with no limits. People built useful things fast. Then the apps stopped at the edge of their laptops, and as a fintech, Flex had no answer for who could access them, where they would run, or what they were touching.

"Teams were building solutions, but it only worked on their laptop. The only way you could share was really copy-pasting something or doing a Zoom call, and that's frankly terrible."

The Superblocks solution

Domain experts become app builders

Flex evaluated Replit, Vercel, Lovable, and others before AWS introduced them to Superblocks. The decision came down to control on the IT side and simplicity on the builder side.

"These other tools expose too many knobs that non-technical users don't understand. Version control, deployments, integrations, database persistence, backups. Making them responsible for that was a nonstarter. Superblocks struck a really nice balance of abstracting a lot of that away while not restricting them."

  • Clark as co-builder. Non-technical users prompt Clark to generate database schemas, APIs, and full application logic. The team uses a UI-first approach: build the interface, then Clark generates everything underneath.

  • IT stays in control. Self-hosted in Flex's own AWS account. Role-based access control, integrations provisioned centrally by IT, and full audit data on every app and every prompt.

  • Set up centrally. IT connects Snowflake and Flex's internal APIs once, then hands them to builders ready to use.

Flex hosts all of its critical systems itself and would not delegate that perimeter to a vendor. Superblocks runs fully self-hosted inside Flex's AWS VPC, on the same stack Flex already operates.

"We felt very strongly that we didn't want to open up that perimeter and delegate that kind of responsibility to any vendor. None of the other providers offered a solution that let us keep that control."

Snowflake, without the SQL

Access to Snowflake was already broad at Flex. SQL was the barrier. Superblocks passes each user's own identity through, so Flex never had to rebuild its permission model in a second system.

Flex's support organization ran quality assurance in a third-party tool that would not measure what they needed. A member of the support team rebuilt it in Superblocks, backed by Snowflake, and it is already running against live data.
